PRESS RELEASE FROM CCSO:
On June 27, 2022 at approximately 7:04 PM Deputies were called to the intersection of Townsend Winona Road and Cosnino Road for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, Deputies found paramedics tending to the pedestrian at the intersection.
The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was attempting to cross Townsend Winona Road at the Cosnino Road intersection. There was a vehicle traveling eastbound on Townsend Winona Road that struck the pedestrian as he was crossing the road. The driver of the vehicle stated that he did not see the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on the scene. Deputies are still working to confirm the identity of the pedestrian.
There were no outward indicators of impairment observed from the driver of the vehicle. This investigation resulted in closures and restrictions of Townsend Winona Road for several hours last evening.
This incident remains under investigation by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office. No further information is available at this time.
