PRESS RELEASE: Shooting Investigation in Flagstaff



On 08/03/2022 at approximately 12:45 AM, Flagstaff Police responded to 1000 N Beaver St for reports of a shooting. Two apartments were struck by gunfire, both of which were occupied at the time of the shooting.  Nobody was injured as a result of the gunfire. During the investigation, a suspect was identified as a former roommate of two of the tenants of the primary apartment.

Kyler Lewis (23 year old) of Flagstaff, was later arrested during a high-risk traffic stop, suspected of being the shooter. Lewis was stopped by police going back to the victim’s apartment armed with several weapons. A search warrant was later executed on a hotel room belonging to Lewis where additional firearms, narcotics, and narcotic equipment were seized.

Lewis was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Felony Endangerment, Threatening and Intimidating, Discharging a Firearm at a Structure, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs for Sale, Possession of Narcotic Drugs, Possession of Narcotic Drugs for Sale, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misconduct Involving Weapons during a Drug Offense, and Criminal Damage
