UPDATE: both children were found safe and returned to their parents.

Coconino County, Ariz. (FlagScanner) – The Coconino County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for two children reported missing from a campsite in the Blue Ridge area early Tuesday morning.

The children were last seen about an hour before the report was made around 9 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. Multiple agencies, including the U.S. Forest Service and the Arizona Department of Public Safety, have joined the search effort. A DPS helicopter and CCSO Search and Rescue teams are also assisting in the operation.

Authorities have not yet released descriptions or photos of the children. At this time, public assistance is not required, but officials urge anyone in the area who spots a child who might be connected to the case to immediately call 911.
