At 12:23 PM Friday afternoon, Coconino County Sheriff's Deputies and Arizona State Troopers were dispatched to a report of an Accident With Injuries in the area of Interstate 40 Eastbound Near Winslow. Troopers are reporting a complete blockage of eastbound traffic. Two semis have collided and are on fire. Avoid the area and use an alternate route.

Navajo Nation Division of Transportation: Be advised that heavy traffic is currently moving through the communities of Leupp and Birdsprings along Navajo Route 15 (N15) due to a major accident on I-40 near Winslow.

Per DPS, and Navajo Nation Division of Transportation there are 2 confirmed fatalities in this accident.
