

11:44 AM Summit FD is responding to multiple reports of a wildland fire along eastbound Interstate 40 near Milepost 215 Cosnino exit. Multiple engines are responding. Updates will be in real-time below.
UPDATE 11:51 AM: USFS is now assigning several additional resources.
UPDATE 11:54 AM: first crews on the scene are reporting a very small fire, roughly one tenth of an acre, smoldering in grass and brush. No threats. One engine can handle. All others can cancel the response.
UPDATE 12:04 : CCSO is saying there are multiple small fires in the immediate area along the railroad tracks.
UPDATE 12:11 PM: There are now confirmed at least 4 fires. All units have been asked to still respond for structure protection. BNSF is saying they believe a petroleum car they were hauling may have started the fires. The train has been stopped. Primary focus is now in the Velvet Valley area for possible threats to structures.
UPDATE 12:25 PM: Flagstaff FD is sending engines to the stopped train near Nestle Purina to check it out. Also, a helicopter has been ordered to fly along the tracks to check for additional fires.
UPDATE 12:27 PM: The largest of the fires is being called the Triangle Fire. The smaller initial fire is called the Track fire, and forward progress has been stopped on that fire.
UPDATE 12:42 PM: Another fire has been confirmed to be burning along the tracks east of the Triangle Fire. Also Flagstaff Fire Department is sending a HAZMAT crew to the stopped train near Nestle Purina for investigation.
UPDATE 12:46 PM: The latest fire is near the Walking Cane subdivision.
UPDATE 1:40 PM: Forward progress and spread has been stopped on all 4 fires at this time.
