UPDATE FROM FLAGSTAFF POLICE:

Flagstaff, AZ – On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 2:15 p.m., officers from the Flagstaff Police Department responded to an apartment in the 100 block of Park Street, located in the Plaza Vieja neighborhood, for a report of a roommate dispute involving a knife.
Upon arrival, officers learned that Evan Rodriguez, 42, of Flagstaff, allegedly brandished a knife in a threatening manner after the victim confronted him regarding personal property. Mr. Rodriguez then barricaded himself inside his bedroom while still in possession of the knife, prompting a request for specialized resources.
The Northern Arizona Regional Emergency Services Response Team, including members of the Flagstaff Police Department’s SWAT unit and Crisis Negotiation Team, responded to the scene. After a period of negotiation, the situation was resolved peacefully, and Mr. Rodriguez was taken into custody without incident at approximately 6:00 p.m.
He was arrested and booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on charges of Disorderly Conduct with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting Arrest, and an outstanding local misdemeanor warrant.
No injuries were reported during the incident. The Flagstaff Police Department thanks the community and residents of the Plaza Vieja neighborhood for their patience and cooperation, which were instrumental in bringing this situation to a safe resolution
