The City of Flagstaff has launched a new group-buying solar program aimed at helping homeowners and small businesses lower energy costs while saving thousands on solar installations.
The Northern Arizona Switch Together Co-op program has secured a 17% discount on solar systems, translating to an average savings of approximately $5,200 for participants. Residents and businesses also have the option to add battery storage systems and electric vehicle chargers.
“The City of Flagstaff is helping households and small businesses lower their energy bills by going solar,” Flagstaff Mayor Becky Daggett said in a statement. “By making the ‘Switch Together,’ neighbors can leverage the power of bulk buying for discounts on solar installations, battery storage, and EV chargers.”
The program is supported through a partnership between the nonprofit Solar United Neighbors, iChoosr, Coconino County and the City of Sedona. Officials said no government funds are being used for the initiative.
Rooftop Solar, a Flagstaff-based company specializing in residential and commercial solar and battery storage systems throughout Northern Arizona, was selected as the installer for the program.
Residents interested in participating can visit SwitchTogether.com/solar/flagstaff to register or learn more. Participants will receive a free personalized solar recommendation after registering. The deadline to register and accept an offer is Sept. 9, 2026. Registration is free and there is no obligation to move forward with an installation.
Solar United Neighbors will also host several free educational events about solar technology and costs, including virtual webinars on June 4 and Aug. 20, as well as an in-person workshop June 25 at Northern Pines Restaurant.
“Switch Together helps you learn if going solar is right for you. You’ll have expert guidance through every step of the process,” said Jess White, Arizona Program Associate for Solar United Neighbors.
