FLAGSTAFF, Ariz – The City of Flagstaff is hosting a meet and greet event for members of the community to meet and provide feedback on candidates for the City Manager position. The City began its nationwide, competitive search following the announcement of current City Manager Greg Clifton’s intention to retire. The City received 34 applications and two finalists will participate in in-person interviews and an in-person public meet and greet event on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 5-7 p.m. at Flagstaff City Hall (211 W Aspen Ave).
The final candidate names and a brief biography are included below:
- Joanne Keene has 25 years of public service leadership experience and holds a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in English/ Broadcast Journalism from Northern Arizona University. She is currently the Deputy City Manager of the City of Flagstaff. Previous positions include Deputy City Manager for the City of Sedona, Deputy County Manager for Coconino County, and Executive Vice President for Northern Arizona University.
- Doug Schulze has served as a local government manager for 36 years and holds a Master of Arts in Urban and Regional Studies and a Bachelor of Public Administration from Minnesota State University, Mankato. He has previously worked as the City Manager of the towns of Banning, CA, Bainbridge Island, WA, Normandy Park, WA, and Medina, WA.
