FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Are you interested in learning more about property tax relief programs available through Coconino County? The County Assessor’s Office will hold three Community Information Workshops in October for residents to find out about qualifications, programs, and how to apply. Qualifications include being a homeowner living on a limited income, and one or more of the following, over the age of 65, are a widow/widower, have a permanent disability, and/or are a disabled Veteran. Applications will be accepted starting January 1, 2025.

There are four Community Information Workshops:

October 15 Page Community Center 699 S. Navajo Dr. 1 – 2:30 p.m. (presentation at 1 p.m.) On-site services

October 22 Joe Montoya Center 245 N. Thorpe Rd. 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (presentation at 11 a.m.) On-site services

October 16 Page Public Library 479 S. Lake Powell Blvd. 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (no presentation) On-site services only

October 23 Williams Senior Center 850 W. Grant Ave. 12:30 – 2 p.m. (presentation at 12:30 p.m.) On-site services

In addition to property tax relief program information, the Assessor’s Office will also provide services like reviewing property value, updating mailing address, verifying ownership, and identifying property information at the workshops. Attendees can also sign up for e-statements and submit assessor related documents.

Last year, County Assessor Armando Ruiz introduced SB1496 asking the state legislature to change some outdated program qualifications because the current property valuation cap restricts some County residents from qualifying. These changes are necessary as home market values continue to climb state-wide and values in Coconino County are often higher than other regions in the state. SB1496 passed out of the Senate unanimously but was held in the House. Assessor Ruiz will bring the bill back to the Legislature in 2025 so more Coconino County residents can qualify for property tax relief.
