FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Coconino County officials and regional partners will present the annual “Wildfire State of Readiness” during a Board of Supervisors meeting Tuesday evening, outlining current conditions and preparedness efforts ahead of wildfire season.
The presentation is scheduled for April 14 during the Coconino County Board of Supervisors meeting, which begins at 6 p.m. at 219 E. Cherry Ave. The meeting is open to the public and will also be available to watch live or later online.
According to Coconino County, the annual update brings together multiple agencies, including the National Weather Service, U.S. Forest Service, Arizona Public Service, and the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. Each agency will provide insight into their area of expertise, including current environmental conditions, long-range forecasts, and strategies focused on wildfire risk reduction.
Officials will also discuss readiness measures such as fire restrictions, mitigation efforts, evacuation planning, and overall community preparedness heading into the 2026 wildfire season.
County leaders say coordination between agencies before, during, and after wildfire incidents plays a critical role in saving lives, protecting property, and minimizing impacts to local communities.
Residents are encouraged to stay informed and prepared by signing up for emergency alerts, reviewing evacuation maps, and learning more about wildfire readiness through the county’s emergency management resources.
This is a developing seasonal concern as Northern Arizona heads into peak wildfire months.
