
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – A tense situation unfolded Thursday evening after two children were struck by a vehicle in Flagstaff, prompting a rapid police response and ending in an arrest at a local Walmart.
At approximately 7:53 p.m., Flagstaff Police and EMS were dispatched to the 2000 block of N 1st Street for a report of a child who had been hit by a lifted red Dodge Ram pickup truck. Witnesses told officers the truck fled the scene immediately after the incident. The child was reported to be breathing but injured.
Just minutes later, at 7:58 p.m., police and EMS were also sent to the 2100 block of E 3rd Avenue for a second child who had been struck by the same vehicle. Officials later confirmed that both children were actually hit in the 1st Street incident, with one of them running home to 3rd Avenue after the collision.
By 8:00 p.m., authorities had a suspect description: a slender white male dressed in all black. Four minutes later, police confirmed both children had sustained only minor injuries.
At 8:07 p.m., officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle at the Walmart on Huntington Drive. The driver, identified as Johnny Glenn Lee of Flagstaff, was taken into custody.
