Per ADOT:

The National Weather Service is forecasting wind gusts between 30-50 mph and heavy snowfall in some parts of northern Arizona. Roads will not reopen until weather conditions improve.

Drivers who choose to travel on other roadways during this week’s storms should be prepared to spend extended time on the highway in extreme winter conditions. You should avoid traveling in winter weather to avoid situations where highways may be impassable for long periods of time. Tracking the forecast and packing an emergency travel kit before traveling are among ADOT’s safety recommendations.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site at az511.gov, downloading the AZ511 app, by calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.

ADOT snowplows are working around-the-clock in affected areas. Motorists are reminded not to tailgate a snowplow – leave four car-lengths between the snowplow and your vehicle – and do not pass a snowplow. Let the snowplow clear the roadway of snow and ice, allowing for safer travel for everyone.
