Prescribed burns continue today with more pile burns! Look for electronic signs up on HWY 89 N, one mile north and one mile south of Elden Springs Rd. Fire crews plan to start ignitions around noon and anticipate being on scene the remainder of the day to monitor piles for maximum consumption. Smoke impacts are expected to be light on HWY 89 N as residual smoke settles in. Smoke and flames will be visible from HWY 89 N and Elden Springs Road during ignition and consumption. Fire managers on the Coconino National Forest plan to take advantage of winter weather conditions by conducting pile burns on both the Flagstaff Ranger District (FRD) and Mogollon Rim Ranger District (MRRD) this week.
