PRESS RELEASE: LOGIC & ACCURACY TEST OF OPTICAL SCANS AND ACCESSIBLE VOTING EQUIPMENT

In accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S. §16.449), the Coconino County Elections Department will conduct Logic and Accuracy (L&A) Tests on ballots, tabulation equipment, and accessible voting equipment to be used for the November 5th, 2024, General Election. The L&A Tests will begin at noon on October 4th, 2024, at the County Elections Center, located at 1300 W. University Avenue, Suite 180, Flagstaff, Arizona, 86001, and will continue until all testing is completed. The first test will cover the county’s federal, state, county, and local races and ballot measures. At 2:30 p.m., the Arizona Secretary of State will begin testing the county’s optical scan and accessible voting equipment.

In addition to being a legal requirement, Logic and Accuracy Tests provide a means to verify that accessible voting equipment accurately reads every ballot, and that tabulators correctly tabulate every ballot. This transparency builds public trust in the integrity and security of the voting process in the County. “We invite our community to witness firsthand how we safeguard every vote, ensuring the election is fair, secure, and accurate,” said Eslir Musta, Elections Director.

The public and media are invited to observe the tests in person or via live video at www.coconino.az.gov/2989/Live-Ballot-Counting-Video-Feed. For questions or additional information please contact the Elections Department at 928-679-7896.
