THIS POST WAS DELAYED 30 MINUTES. At 6:43 PM Flagstaff Police had a Honda sedan flee from them on Lockett. The vehicle is possibly stolen and matches the description of a vehicle involved in multiple other incidents. A supervisor ordered Officers to NOT follow the driver. A short time later another officer spotted the car going only 15 mph and the supervisor again told officers not to get involved with trying to stop the driver because he has already ran from Officers twice. The driver was last spotted driving wrong way in opposing traffic on Fourth St near Butler. 911 is now getting reports that the suspect hit one or more moving vehicles northbound on Fourth St. Officers are still not permitted to pursue per supervisor orders. Updates will be below if we get anymore.

UPDATE 8:43 PM Officers located the suspect at a nearby establishment and have him in custody.

Many police departments have adopted no pursuit or limited pursuit policies to reduce the risk of injury or death to officers, suspects, and innocent bystanders. High-speed pursuits can be extremely dangerous, especially in densely populated or high-traffic areas, and departments are increasingly weighing the cost of catching a suspect against public safety and possible lawsuits resulting from them.
