12:23 PM Flagstaff 911 is receiving several calls regarding a new fire along Highway 89 near Sacred Mountain Trading Post (17 miles north of Flagstaff.) Several Summit units are responding. Callers are saying the fire is in the grass and roughly 60 feet in length. Updates to follow.
UPDATE 12:29 PM: State Troopers are reporting the fire has grown to approximately 200 feet in length and requesting additional resources. USFS is also now responding with multiple units.
UPDATE 12:39 PM: First fire crew is on the scene saying the size is more like 5ft x 8ft. NO additional resources are needed. Low rate of spread and growth potential. Under an acre in size.
UPDATE 12:49 PM: Crews are gaining control of the fire, and expect full containment soon.
