4:49 PM Summit FD and Forest Service are responding to a wildland fire reported near Townsend Winona Rd / I-40 Eestbound near milepost 209 (8 miles east of Flagstaff.) This page will auto-refresh with up-to-the-minute updates. Updates to follow below.
UPDATE 4:53 PM: Summit has 2 wildland trucks and a battalion chief responding.
UPDATE 5:00 PM: Summit FD is reporting active flames. This is on the eastbound shoulder of I-40. USFS is saying they have a 1 hour ETA.
UPDATE 5:04 PM: Summit FD has established an incident command. They are asking for USFS to cancel their response.
UPDATE 5:15 PM: Crews have water on the fire and are making good progress. Awaiting full size and specifics.
FINAL UPDATE 6:07 PM: Fire has been extinguished and is under control. All units going back available.
