

Intitial Dispatch 5:45 PM several agencies are responding to Interstate 40 westbound mile marker 222 for a brush fire. This is approximately 21 miles east of Flagstaff. Engine 32 is reporting that there are several. Small fire along the roadway and likely caused by chains dragging. Summit FD is requesting an additional water tender and wildland Fire engine. Updates will be below.
5:50 PM UPDATE: Crews are saying one of the fires is at roughly 1 acre near milepost 217. Slow spread in brush. The second fire is a few miles east, and possibly a third further down.
5:53 PM UPDATE: An additional type 6 wildland unit is now being added to the incident.
5:55 PM UPDATE: Crews are now reporting multiple acres burning over several miles. Fire has a moderate rate of spread.
6:09 PM UPDATE: State Land and USFS is now responding with an additional 3 engines.
** 6:23 PM UPDATE: Incident Commander just aired that forward progression has been stopped on at least one of the fires.
6:29 PM UPDATE: Crews are using hydrants at the casino to fill water tenders. The fire is also spreading onto the Navajo Nation land now.
