FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — On Saturday, September 27, 2025, at approximately 7:47 a.m., Flagstaff Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 800 block of West University Avenue.
When officers arrived, they located a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound inside an apartment. Witnesses at the scene immediately began providing medical aid until officers and emergency personnel could take over. The victim was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center in critical condition, where she continues to receive care.
According to investigators, the suspected shooter fled the area immediately after the incident. Following an extensive canvass, officers were able to identify and locate the suspect, who was taken into custody without further incident.
Police have identified the suspect as Tayvion Anderson, 19, of Winslow. Anderson was booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on multiple charges, including Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Weapons Misconduct, and Endangerment.
This case remains under active investigation by the department’s Criminal Investigations Division. In a statement, the Flagstaff Police Department expressed gratitude for the quick actions of witnesses who rendered aid and the cooperation of community members that helped ensure the suspect was swiftly apprehended.
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — At 7:47 a.m. Saturday, Flagstaff Police and EMS responded to the Woodlands Village Apartments, located at 813 W University Avenue, after a caller reported that someone had been shot.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a victim suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was immediately transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center Trauma Center and is listed in critical condition.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing a black zip-up top, blue skinny jeans, and a black hat. He was last seen fleeing the area on foot toward the Kohl’s Department Store.
Police and surrounding agencies are actively canvassing the area in search of the suspect. Authorities caution the public not to approach the individual if seen and instead call 911 immediately.
