FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Around 3:00 a.m. Saturday, Flagstaff Police and Fire Department crews were called to reports of a vehicle explosion near 4185 E. Huntington Drive, across from the Flagstaff Shelter Services.
Police officers were first to arrive and found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames behind a locked fence. The fire was located near several stacks of construction materials, creating a risk of spread, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it reached any nearby buildings.
A total of three engines and a battalion chief responded to the scene. Firefighters made a rapid attack and extinguished the flames within approximately 10 minutes.
No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged. The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
Authorities ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about how the vehicle came to be at that location to contact the Flagstaff Police Department’s non-emergency line.
