FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — The Coconino County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing regarding recommended Zoning Ordinance amendments at their April 24, 2024 regular meeting. These amendments are intended to improve flexibility in the County’s Comprehensive Plan update process and overall flexibility and efficiency in serving the community.

Some of the proposed amendments include clarifying the County’s floodplain, engineering, and building regulations for required permitting; simplifying commercial landscaping standards and incentivizing retention of existing native landscaping; and increasing flexibility of residential mixed use on commercial properties.

County residents are encouraged to review the full list of proposed amendments and submit comments at this website prior to April 23, 2024. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommendations, including public comments, will be forwarded to the Coconino County Board of Supervisors for consideration and possible adoption at a future Board meeting.

Coconino County Community Development staff are available at 928-679-8850 to answer questions about the amendments and the public hearing.

The Coconino County Planning and Zoning Commission holds public meetings on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Agendas and virtual streaming links can be found here.
