2:31 PM The Flagstaff Fire Department is responding to a wildfire that has broken out south of the I-40 in the area of the Naval Observatory. CCSO is saying they haven’t found any fire, but the Fire Battalion Chief is saying he can see the smoke. This fire is separate from the brush fire that is being handled in Bellemont right now.
UPDATE 2:36 PM Flagstaff Battalion 1 is in the area saying there are obvious pile burns that have taken place recently in the area, and that one of them may be putting off smoke. The wildland truck is still being asked to respond to the scene.
UPDATE 2:39PM: Battalion 1 has confirmed with the Forest Service that this is a prescribed burn and that all units can cancel. He said it is putting up a considerable amount of smoke.
