Update from Flagstaff Police:

Flagstaff, Arizona – March 14, 2025 – At approximately 8:00 AM, Flagstaff Police Department officers responded to a report of two individuals being struck by a train on the east side of Flagstaff, near 4355 E. Industrial Dr. Upon arrival, officers discovered that both individuals had been simultaneously struck by an eastbound freight train. Life-saving measures were immediately attempted by responding officers but were unsuccessful.

Preliminary interviews with the train crew revealed that the two individuals had been waiting for a westbound freight train to pass while standing on tracks designated for eastbound freight traffic. Witnesses reported that the individuals likely did not hear the approaching eastbound train due to their close proximity to the passing westbound train.

The collision occurred in an area not designated for pedestrian traffic, and both individuals sustained catastrophic injuries. Emergency medical personnel declared both victims deceased at the scene.

Evidence collected at the scene suggests that intoxication may have been a contributing factor on the part of the pedestrians.  Investigators are actively working to identify the individuals involved.

The Flagstaff Police Department is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
