Wildland Fire Near U-Pick-It Northeast of Flagstaff #PapaFire

2:21 PM Callers report a fire along FS Road just north of the U-Pick-It. No flames have been seen yet, but smoke can be seen north of the structures and moving away from the buildings. Several units were dispatched, but the Summit Battalion Chief has cancelled most of their response until an on-scene report can be obtained. Updates will be below and in real time.

UPDATE 2:27 PM: Callers are now reporting large flames seen. Wind is pushing the fire away from any structures.
UPDATE 2:37 PM: Summit FD is on the scene reporting that the fire is approximately 1 acre in size. It has a moderate rate of spread in brush and timber.
UPDATE 3 PM: Additional resources are now being called to the fire. Command has named this the “Papa Fire”

UPDATE 3:45 PM from Coconino National Forest

Flagstaff, AZ — June 8, 2026 — Firefighters are responding to the Papa Fire, a roughly 1-acre wildfire located 13 miles east of Flagstaff.

The fire is moving in a north/northeast direction at a moderate rate of spread through grass and timber.

Resources responding to the Papa Fire include one Hotshot crew, one hand crew, six engines, one dozer, one water tender and miscellaneous overhead.

Crews are responding to the Papa Fire with a direct extinguishment strategy, and are aiming to confine the fire to as small a perimeter as possible as quickly as possible. Smoke will remain noticeable during fire suppression activities.

There are no immediate threats to infrastructure or values at risk.

The public should avoid the fire area as a matter of public and firefighter safety.

UPDATE 4:11 PM: The fire size has been updated to 30 acres.
