UPDATE: Flagstaff Police Identify Suspect, Victim in East Flagstaff Homicide Investigation

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Flagstaff Police have released additional information regarding Wednesday morning’s fatal shooting in east Flagstaff, confirming one man was killed and another suffered serious injuries.

The shooting was reported at approximately 9:22 a.m. on July 8 in the 5000 block of East Marketplace Drive. When officers arrived, they found one adult male deceased at the scene and a second adult male suffering from serious injuries. The injured victim was transported by ambulance for emergency medical treatment.

According to investigators, preliminary information indicates the two men may have been involved in a physical altercation before the shooting occurred.

The Flagstaff Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division processed the scene as a homicide investigation.

Police have identified the deceased victim as Jose Adrian Ontiveros, 39, of Flagstaff.

The suspect has been identified as Erick Gustavo Pineda, 42, of Flagstaff. He was taken into custody shortly after the incident and has since been booked into the Coconino County Detention Facility on one count of First Degree Murder (ARS 13-1105 A1).
